Learn about finding a puppy from a reputable breeder who does all of the health clearances required by the Golden Retriever Club of America Code of Ethics.

*Every dog bred should have:

1)Pennhip or OFA x-rays for hips and elbows after 2 years of age

     2) OFA heart done by a Cardiologist (a heart check by a regular Vet does not count)

     3) OFA eyes by Ophthalmologist (eyes rechecked every single year).

***This is the bare minimum that a breeder should be doing since this testing is the most valuable tool stacking the deck towards a healthy Golden Life.***

*Taking a dog just to a vet for a checkup isn't health testing- it is normal dog care.

*DNA tests are recommended and should be done in addition to doing the most important core tests.

*All of these screens are able to be verified on OFA.ORG with a dog's registered name.
